Inter defender Benjamin Pavard has been diagnosed with a dislocated kneecap, so he could remain out of action for two months.

The France international was forced off the pitch with a knee injury during Inter’s 2-1 win over Atalanta on Saturday.

Several sources in Italy, including La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, claim Pavard suffered a dislocated kneecap in his left leg, as emerged by medical tests undergone on Monday morning.

Gazzetta claims the 27-year-old will wear a knee brace for a month, but he risks missing two months of action, meaning he may not play again for the Nerazzurri before January 2024.

According to the report, Pavard will begin rehab after three or four weeks but his injury is not so severe as to require surgery.

Pavard joined Inter from Bayern Munich in a €30m deal last summer and has played nine games for the Nerazzurri so far this season. His contract at the Stadio Meazza expires in June 2028.

Inter released an official statement following Pavard’s medical examination.

“Benjamin Pavard underwent a medical examination at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano this morning. The tests ascertain that he has suffered a dislocated kneecap.

“The French defender will need to wear a knee brace for 3/4 weeks before starting his rehabilitation process.”
