Inter are seriously considering sending an offer to Atalanta for defender Rafael Toloi, moving away from previous target Merih Demiral.

The Nerazzurri lost two defenders at the start of this month – Danilo D’Ambrosio and Milan Skriniar. They’ve already found one replacement in the market, Yann-Aurel Bisseck, but it’s clear that another reinforcement is needed.

Inter had been keen to pick up Demiral on loan from Atalanta, but after initial talks with the Bergamo outfit it became apparent that a deal wouldn’t be easy to reach.

Page four of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter discovered that a deal for Toloi would be more agreeable for Atalanta following their recent talks, so they’re now considering sending in an offer.

The 32-year-old Italian-Brazilian has entered the last year of his contract with la Dea and would be a perfect fit for Simone Inzaghi’s squad, being comfortable in a three-man defence.

Last season, Toloi saw over 2900 minutes of action across 34 total games for Atalanta, netting two goals and providing an assist in that time.
