The form of Nicolo Barella has been crucial for Inter over the two legs of the Champions League quarter-final against Benfica, but there is a chance the influential midfielder could depart from San Siro in the summer if the Nerazzurri fail to secure their place in next year’s competition.

The Sardinian midfielder has scored more goals so far this season than in any other and his contributions in front of goal during both games against Benfica helped Inter on their way to their first Champions League semi-final in 13 years.

With his Euro 2020 title under Roberto Mancini also in the bag, Tuttomercato claims that Barella is among the best midfielders on the continent at present.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport, there is a risk that Barella could currently be entering his final matches in blue and black if Inter fail to qualify for the Champions League.

The report states that there has been interest from Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp for some time now.

But Paris Saint-Germain are the latest party to register an interest in landing Barella, who could involve Leandro Paredes as part of a player-plus-cash swap.

In order to keep Barella on the books beyond the summer, Inter need to turn around their form in Serie A and regain their place in the top four, or go all the way and win this year’s Champions League.
