According to Tuttosport newspaper, Inter are reviving their interest in Marcus Thuram, while Atletico Madrid continue to monitor Lautaro Martinez.

The Argentinean striker hasn’t yet scored in 2022, but the Colchoneros are still keeping a close eye on him. According to the Turin-based paper, a scout of Atletico Madrid was at the Stadio Meazza on Tuesday to watch him during the Mian derby. Lautaro started the game but was subbed off in the second half.

With the future of Alexis Sanchez also in doubt, the Nerazzurri may reshuffle their attacking department in the summer and Marcus Thuram is one of their targets for 2022-23. The Serie A giants had held talks with Lillian’s son in the summer, but the France striker sustained a knee injury in August, so the deal collapsed and Inter signed Joaquin Correa instead.

Thuram has a €45m clause included in his contract, but Inter are unwilling to offer as much, also considering the striker’s knee issues. According to the report, the Nerazzurri had offered €20m plus €5m add-ons in 2021.

Sassuolo‘s Gianluca Scamacca remains Inter’s primary target over the summer, but his signing would not rule out the arrival of Thuram. Inter strikers have been struggling over the last few weeks, with Simone Inzaghi’s men unable to find the net in the last four games.

  1. It would be typical of a Serie A side – sell the minute there’s a dry spell for a young striker, then watch them do well somewhere else and regret selling them.

And Thuram? He’s a reserve at Gladbach, and certainly no goalscorer.
