Inter reportedly set their sights on Matteo Pessina and Gianluca Mancini, but Roma will soon offer a contract extension to their defender, doubling his wages.

The Italian centre-back will see his Roma contract expire in 2024, but the Giallorossi will soon offer him a new deal, while Pessina’s contract at Atalanta ends in June 2022.

They share the same agent, Beppe Riso, who, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, met Inter yesterday. However, the main reason for the summit was to prepare the return of both Eddie Salcedo and Federico Dimarco to the Giuseppe Meazza.

The pink paper reports the defending Serie A title holders could have discussed Mancini and Pessina too.

The Nerazzurri have already signed Hakan Calhanoglu as a free agent, but could welcome a new centre midfielder if Radja Nainggolan and Joao Mario leave. In that case, Pessina would be an option.

Mancini is also monitored by the Nerazzurri who could make a move to sign him if they receive a big offer for Milan Skriniar, which, however, is not on the table yet.

Roma are not planning to part ways with the 25-year-old defender and want to offer him a contract extension.

The Giallorossi director Tiago Pinto will reportedly meet Mancini’s agent this weekend offering a new contract to see the defender double his €1.5m-a-year salary.
