Inter confirm they are ‘waiting for Manchester United to make Onana offer’

Inter are waiting for Manchester United to ‘make a proposal over the next few days’ for Andre Onana, confirms director Beppe Marotta.

The chief was interviewed on stage in Rimini as part of the opening ceremony for the Serie A summer transfer hub, which begins in earnest on July 1.

He was asked about several issues in the news, including Marcelo Brozovic talks with Al-Nassr and interest in Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.

Marotta was questioned on where things stand on goalkeeper Onana.

“Manchester United expressed a particular interest, but that needs to flourish into making a proposal over the next few days,” he replied.

“Once that happens, both Inter and the player will make a careful evaluation.”

The Cameroon international arrived as a free agent last summer from Ajax, so any transfer fee would be pure profit, making him the main candidate to be sold.

Inter are believed to be asking for €50m in guaranteed cash, plus another €10m in various add-ons.

Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri have made a new signing in attack, bringing in Marcus Thuram as a free agent from Borussia Monchengladbach, stealing him from under the noses of Milan and PSG.

“We are happy and director of sport Piero Ausilio deserves the credit. We are very pleased to have Thuram with us next season.”
