Inter’s Corporate CEO Alessandro Antonello confirms the Nerazzurri’s priority is to build a new club-owned stadium in Rozzano and seems unconvinced by a project to refurbish the Stadio Meazza.

Antonello provided the latest updates on Inter’s new stadium during an interview with TG1 on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri are developing a project to build a new club-owned stadium in Rozzano, just outside Milan.

However, the Milan City Council and Major Beppe Sala are desperate to convince Inter and Milan to stay at San Siro and have already presented a project to refurbish the Stadio Meazza.

“We must be very cautious because we want to have a stadium that can best welcome the fans,” Antonello said as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“We will continue pursuing the idea of Rozzano because it’s well connected and accustomed to welcoming sporting events.”

Inter’s city rivals Milan, at the same time, recently bought a vast area in San Donato and are also planning to leave San Siro if the project for their new stadium is approved.

Simone Inzaghi’s Inter are the current Serie A table leaders with a 15-point lead over Juventus. The Nerazzurri have averaged nearly 73,000 fans for every home Serie A game this season.
