Inter have confirmed that striker Marko Arnautovic will be sidelined for a number of weeks after suffering an injury in the win over Empoli.

The 34-year-old Austrian forward came on in the 71st minute of the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win over Empoli on Sunday but was forced to withdraw early after pulling up with an apparent hamstring injury, leaving his team with 10 men for the final minutes.

Arnautovic, who joined Inter from Bologna in the summer, has featured in all of their games under Simone Inzaghi, providing one assist across 156 minutes of action.

As announced today, Arnautovic underwent a round of medical tests that the Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano, which confirmed that he’d suffered a medium-grade injury to his left hamstring. He will be revalued in the coming weeks.

Injuries of this type usually have a fairly long recovery time and the Austrian veteran could be out of action for around two months. The hope is to have him back in time for the clash with Juventus on November 26.
