La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Mario Hermoso ‘has convinced everyone’ at Inter, so the Nerazzurri are confident about signing the Atletico Madrid defender even if West Ham and Aston Villa can make higher contract offers.
Hermoso’s contract with Atletico Madrid expires at the end of the season and according to Thursday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Colchoneros won’t offer the 28-year-old a new deal.
Page 13 of Thursday’s printed edition claims the Nerazzurri are not yet in advanced talks with the defender’s entourage, but the Spain international ‘has convinced everyone’ at Pinetina, so the Serie A giants are preparing a four-year contract worth €5m per season. The deal could also include an option for a further campaign.
Hermoso would replace Francesco Acerbi or Stefan de Vrij as one of them could leave the Stadio Meazza at the end of the season.
More clubs are interested in Hermoso, including West Ham and Aston Villa. Both Premier League sides will likely offer Hermoso a higher salary, but Inter’s status as one of the best clubs in Europe makes the Nerazzurri confident of beating them to the signing of the 28-year-old.
