Inter are confident that they will get Denzel Dumfries to sign a new contract, despite reports in England that he was waiting for Manchester United.
The right-back is only currently tied to the club until the end of the season and they were hoping to have resolved the issue by now, either with a sale or an extension, to avoid the risk of losing him as a free agent in June 2025.
According to Calciomercato.com, director Piero Ausilio met with the Dutchman’s agent in London earlier this month when Inter were playing Chelsea in a pre-season friendly.
That meeting allowed them to work out some of the details and both parties are now confident a new contract will be agreed soon.
Inter are the future for Dumfries
Dumfries is 28 years old and was purchased from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2021 for €14.25m.
He has made 133 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 11 goals and providing 20 assists, winning the Scudetto, two Coppa Italia trophies and three editions of the Italian Super Cup.
