Simone Inzaghi will take charge of his 300th Serie A match when his Inter face Genoa on Monday, a match that’ll break records for the Italian tactician.

The Nerazzurri have continued to grow under the 47-year-old coach over the last three years and now they are in prime position to lift their 20th ever Scudetto, sitting 12 points clear of second place Juventus after 26 matches.

Inter are also considered outside favourites in the Champions League following their second-place finish last term, and Inzaghi’s work has won him praise from across Europe. In recent weeks, a handful of Premier League clubs have explored his future ahead of the summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inzaghi will hit a milestone when Inter face Genoa on Monday, overseeing his 300th Serie A match as a head coach.

Incredibly, the Italian is the most successful coach in Serie A history upon reaching this milestone, having secured 178 wins out of 299 attempts in the league, with 50 draws and 71 losses across his years with Lazio and Inter.

He has averaged 1.95 points per match in this time, having an average win rate of 60%. One aspect that helps Inzaghi is that he immediately started out with Lazio, compared to his peers like Massimiliano Allegri who worked with lower-strength teams earlier in their careers.

Joining Inzaghi on the top 10 list for wins across the first 300 Serie A matches are Carlo Ancelotti and Allegri, with the former being the only to boast a better points average across his 300 matches due to the number of draws.

Others in the list include Helenio Herrera, Giovanni Trapattoni, Fabio Capello, Roberto Mancini Marcello Lippi, William Garbutt and Hermann Felsner, with the latter two succeeding a century ago with Genoa and Bologna respectively.
