Inter are closing in on reaching agreements to extend the contracts of Hakan Calhanoglu and Alessandro Bastoni, although there is still a high chance of losing eleven players for free in the summer.

According to reports in Calciomercato, Cahanoglu is the closest to signing a new contract to stay with the blue contingent of San Siro.

Having signed on a free transfer from Milan in the summer of 2021 on a three year deal, the Turkish international is close to signing a renewal that would tie him to Inter until 2027.

The report states that the 29-year-old would take home around €5m per season after tax on his proposed new contract.

Directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are also working on getting Alessandro Bastoni to commit his future to the Nerazzurri, whose current deal expires in 2024.

To avoid losing him for a cut-down price in the summer or even worse, losing him for free in just over a year’s time, Inter are prepared to significantly increase his wage packet.

Bastoni currently earns around €2.8m per season, however his agent, who also represents Inzaghi and Matteo Darmian is currently requesting that Inter double what they are currently paying.

In turn, Inter are prepared to offer Bastoni €4m per season according to Calciomercato to avoid another “Skriniar incident.”

The club remain confident that they will be able to negotiate with Bastoni and his representatives to keep hold of the 23-year-old.

Inzaghi and his team will likely still have plenty of work to do over the summer months, with as many as 11 players set to leave for free at the end of this season.

Among those players are three loanees in Francesco Acerbi, Raoul Bellanova and Romelu Lukaku, who are all set to return to their parent clubs on June 30.

Then there are eight players whose contracts are up in the summer and might not be renewed.

Those include Samir Handanovic, Alex Cordaz, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Dalbert, Roberto Gagliardini and Milan Skriniar, who is already set to join Paris Saint-Germain.

On a more positive note, Stefan De Vrij is set to sign a new deal in the coming weeks

Edin Dzeko’s contract is also set to expire at the end of this campaign and his situation remains slightly up for debate within the Inter hierarchy.
