Inter are confident they can do a deal with PSV Eindhoven for right-back Denzel Dumfries at under €20m.

Not all the money from Romelu Lukaku’s sale to Chelsea will be reinvested in forwards, as they also need a replacement for Achraf Hakimi after his move to PSG.

Dumfries has always been the first choice for the role and negotiations are now finally in full swing.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Inter are hopeful they can secure him for €15m plus performance-related bonuses, taking the total figure to €17-18m.

That is just under the €20m asking price, which was revised from €25m last year because Dumfries has informed PSV that he is determined to leave this summer.

The 25-year-old has 23 senior caps for the Netherlands, in which he scored two goals.

His contract with PSV Eindhoven runs to June 2023 and he arrived from Heerenveen in 2018 at a cost of circa €5.5m.

Dumfries can play as a right-back or a wing-back for Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation.
