Multiple sources claim Inter are in talks with Monza for wing-back Carlos Augusto, who is also tracked by Nottingham Forest.

The 24-year-old Brazilian plays on the left wing and has been a revelation in Monza’s debut Serie A season, contributing six goals and five assists in 35 games.

He was purchased from Corinthians for €4.2m in September 2020 and also proved instrumental in their promotion campaign.

Sportitalia had reported the approach from Inter in May and now Sky Sport Italia suggest the negotiations are intensifying.

Competition remains from the Premier League and Nottingham Forest, but Inter would guarantee Champions League football and a higher profile.

At the same time, he would be fighting for the position with fan favourite Federico Dimarco.

If Carlos Augusto was to come to San Siro, then Robin Gosens would likely be sold to make way for him.

Former Atalanta wing-back Gosens struggled with injury and has never quite been the same player seen in Bergamo.
