Inter CEO Beppe Marotta admitted he ‘doesn’t know’ if the decision to fine Juventus for their salary manoeuvres was the right one.

The FIGC announced today that the Bianconeri would be fined €720,000 for their salary manoeuvres back in 2020 and 2021, agreeing a plea bargain. The club allegedly paid players wages under the table that they’d publicly stated would be waived.

The ruling draws another one of Juventus’ legal issues to a close, following on from their 10-point deduction back on May 22 for falsifying capital gains through inflated player transfer values. The Old Lady are not out of the woods yet, however, as UEFA’s investigation is still ongoing and the Turin Public Prosecutor’s Office are still working on their Prisma investigation.

Speaking on the sidelines of the presentation of Adriano Galliani’s autobiography, Marotta first spoke about Galliani and his work in Italian football.

“Adriano is absolutely the best director in Italian football. I believe he is an example to follow for the values he represents.”

He spoke about the fact that Galliani would be supporting Inter in the Champions League final, despite his long association with rivals Milan.

“A relationship of esteem binds us, the fact that he is coming fills me with pride and pleasure. I have cheered for him on many occasions, I am pleased that this time he will be cheering for me.”

The Inter CEO was asked to give his opinion on Juventus’ fine and the FIGC ruling.

“A situation that I don’t want to go into because it seems quite clear and evident to me that it has been defined today. It’s a page that is closed, let’s move forward with optimism.”

Marotta was also asked if this was the right ruling.

“I don’t know.”
