Inter can afford Lukaku’s return on two conditions

Romelu Lukaku is reportedly pushing to return to Inter, but will need a 50% pay cut to wear the Nerazzurri shirt again.

The Belgium international is having a tough time at Stamford Bridge and is pushing to leave the club in the summer. Calciomercato.com confirms that the 28-year-old has informed his former club that he wants to return.

Lukaku has reportedly spoken to Inter directors and some of his former teammates, telling them he wants to return. However, the Nerazzurri must balance the books so he can only afford the striker’s return on loan.

Lukaku would also need to take a 50% pay cut. He is currently on a €13-14m deal in London and Inter can’t offer more than €6-6.5m per season. The Nerazzurri can’t even use the Growth Decree as Lukaku left Italy only one year ago.

The Belgian striker has yet to find the net in Premier League games in 2022. Last week, he shared a cryptic tweet just before the Coppa Italia Derby della Madonnina won 3-0 by the Nerazzurri.
