Stefan de Vrij’s injury was the only downside to Inter’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona yesterday but the club are not too concerned.

The 30-year-old Dutch centre back was taken off by Simone Inzaghi at half time after suffering a muscle strain in his left thigh, being replaced by Danilo D’Ambrosio. He had only just returned from a calf injury and there were fears that he could be sidelined for a number of weeks, if not the remainder of the season.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are confident that De Vrij will be able to return to action soon, possibly in time for the next match against Spezia. If he misses that then the Nerazzurri expect him to be fit in time for the Coppa Italia semi-final against Milan on April 19.

The 30-year-old De Vrij has made 32 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2623 minutes. In that time, he’s scored one goal and helped the side keep 11 clean sheets.
