Inter boss Simone Inzaghi admits he ‘always’ feels at risk and confirms Romelu Lukaku needs more time to recover from his injury.

The Belgium international was expected to return to action against Roma tomorrow, but Inzaghi has revealed that he will be forced to do without the Chelsea loanee against José Mourinho’s side.

“There was a slight delay. A month has gone by, but he’ll need some more time,” he told the Press, as quoted by Tuttomercatoweb.

Lukaku is not the only notable absentee against Roma, as Marcelo Brozovic has been ruled out for over a month following an injury suffered on international duty with Croatia.

Kristjan Asllani joined Inter in the summer to become a back-up for the Croatia international and the ex-Empoli man is the chosen one for tomorrow.

“Asllani is the player chosen by the club and I. He is working well and tomorrow he will surely start,” Inzaghi confirmed.

“I have four midfielders available, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Barella e Calhanoglu. Three will start and one goes to the bench.

“It’s going to be a tough game, we face a strong team with quality and a great coach,” the coach continued.

“We must prepare well. Yesterday I saw the lads for the first time after the defeat against Udinese. We analysed the game while preparing for the next match.

“It is our fault if we lost against Udinese. We were below our standards and conceded two goals from set pieces. We know we must do more.”

The former Lazio boss is under pressure after losing three of the opening seven Serie A games this season plus one in the Champions League against Bayern Munich.

Does he feel on the brink after the defeat against Udinese before the break?

“I always do, in every game,” he admitted.

“I must take decisions at all times, but I am calm and I work daily with my staff, I am calm.

“The club is always supporting me. My story is clear: wherever I go, trophies arrive, while incomes increase and losses decrease.

“It happened and Lazio and it’s happening at Inter now. We know we are behind, but we are working hard. Now the pitch must do the talking.

“We are all going in the same direction; right now we are paying a high price for incidents, but everyone must do more, starting from myself.”
