The striker just turned 20 and is already lighting up the Primera Division with seven goals in 22 games.
Sky Sport Italia and Calciomercato.com reported negotiations were advancing and the Argentines were asking for €8.5m compared to the €5.5m offer.
“The only reality is that we received an offer from Italy that we consider to be insufficient,” Argentinos Juniors press officer Adrian Perez told AM 610.
“This is the only real proposal we received. We can’t talk about every rumour that emerges, but our idea is to guarantee a percentage of any future sale, above all with players of a certain quality.
“I don’t want to talk about specific figures, but the offer that was rumoured is close to the proposal. We rejected it because the offer is insufficient for a player of his potential.”
It was assumed the offer of €5.5m was from Inter, but transfer pundit Matteo Pedrosi claims it was from Torino, as the Nerazzurri are still formulating their proposal.
