Speaking about the possibility of not allowing some Inter players to join their national teams in the upcoming international break last week, Beppe Marotta said: “It is a situation that we will face with rigidity because we will have to respond to so many call-ups.
“We must use common sense, I’m seeing a bad mood among many directors of top European clubs.”
According to Calciomercato.com, Antonio Conte doesn’t want to take any risk with the 27-year-old who, on paper, is not fit to play yet. The Italian tactician want Lukaku to return to the pitch only when he will be 100% fit.
The Belgian trained separately from the rest of the group yesterday.
"I spoke with him and Inter after the injury against Shaktar. We are confident. Monday will be ready,” Roberto Martinez said at a press conference.
Reports in Italy, however, suggest Lukaku’s call-up could cause a diplomatic incident as Inter would prefer their striker to stay in Milan to train and recover from his injury.
