Inter are reportedly at risk of missing out on the signing of Tiago Djaló as a free agent next summer, as Juventus and Barcelona could outbid the Nerazzurri in the January transfer window.

Djaló has emerged as a priority target for Inter next summer as the 24-year-old defender’s contract expires in June 2024. According to Friday’s printed edition of Il Corriere dello Sport, on page 17, the Nerazzurri are in advanced talks with the player’s agents over a possible free transfer next summer.

However, Djaló’s club, Lille, are contemplating selling the Portuguese defender for €5m in the January transfer window, and Inter are not expected to have a transfer budget available to spend next month.

This is why, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Juventus or Barcelona could beat the Nerazzurri to signing the former Milan defender in January.

Djaló has been forced to the sidelines since March with a knee injury but is expected to return to action in the coming weeks.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Inter may still have hope to sign the 24-year-old next summer if the defender refuses offers from other clubs in the winter transfer window and waits for a free move to the Stadio Meazza in July 2024. In this case, however, his club Lille could freeze him out of the team until the end of the season.
