According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter directors are annoyed by Massimiliano Allegri’s claims about the Serie A title race which he compared to a challenge between ‘guards and thieves.’
Juventus boss Allegri caused controversy on Tuesday night following a 3-0 win over Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium in Turin.
During a post-match interview with DAZN, Allegri compared the title race to a challenge between guards and thieves, where “thieves are running away, and the guards must catch them.”
Allegri’s words came as a reply to Inter director Beppe Marotta, who had previously claimed Inter were like a hare trying to avoid shots from hunters.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nerazzurri directors were annoyed by Allegri’s claims during his latest post-match interview but won’t reply to the Old Lady’s boss.
During a pre-match press conference on Thursday, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that Allegri’s words are a “normal dynamic in the world of football.
The Nerazzurri are currently in Saudi Arabia, where they will face Lazio in the Supercoppa semis on Friday. This means they won’t be playing in Serie A this coming weekend, so Juventus will overtake them at the top of the table if they beat Lecce away.
Inter and Juventus will meet at the Stadio Meazza in Milan on February 4. The Nerazzurri are currently two points clear of their rivals at the top of the table.
