The Italian transfer window is closed, but Inter and Leicester City are racing to resolve the remaining problems for the Stefano Sensi transfer.

It was effectively a done deal over a week ago, yet they find themselves negotiating all the way down to the wire.

Italian clubs cannot sign any more players, but the English transfer deadline is at 23.00 GMT.

Sensi’s agent Beppe Riso was asked by Sportitalia this evening how the deal was going and replied: “We still have to wait some more.”

Now Sky Sport Italia, Tuttomercatoweb and others all report the problem is regarding Leicester City’s Financial Fair Play parameters.

Sensi has seemingly already undergone his medical tests and is in England, the problem remains the formula of the transfer and getting a work permit.

His contract with Inter expires on June 30, so a loan without an obligation to buy would leave the Italians potentially exposed.

Leicester seemingly cannot afford to commit to the €2.5m move, so want it to be €500,000 plus €2m in bonuses in case of promotion to the Premier League.
