Inter and Juventus are the current frontrunners to land the signature of left-back Carlos Augusto from Monza this summer according to reports on Saturday morning.

The 24-year-old contributed with six goals and five assists in Serie A during the 2022-23 season, but is now into the final year of his contract with Monza, which expires at the end of 2023-24.

On Thursday, Monza also brought in versatile fullback Georgios Kyriakopoulos on an initial loan from Sassuolo with an option to buy, which could become mandatory if certain conditions are met before the end of the campaign.

Now it seems almost inevitable that Augusto will be moved on before the close of the summer window.

According to reports from Calciomercato.com, Inter have admired Augusto for a while already and directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have already begun discussions for the Brazilian.

The Nerazzurri are reportedly waiting to move Robin Gosens on this season before bringing in another option to compete with Federico Dimarco on the left flank.

Calciomercato reports that Juventus have also recently approached Monza for information regarding Augusto’s situation. They too could also move at least one full-back on this summer, namely Luca Pellegrini and/or Andrea Cambiaso.

Now that Monza already have a replacement brought in, Calciomercato believes that Augusto’s transfer could now accelerate.
