With only a year left on his contract with Benfica, Alejandro Grimaldo could be sold in January as Inter and Juventus reportedly explore a possible deal.

The 26-year-old Spanish left back was linked with a number of clubs this summer, from Newcastle  United and Arsenal to multiple clubs in Italy. Grimaldo has impressed across the last six years with Benfica and is now seemingly keen to try a new adventure abroad. Contract renewal talks have stalled and now a departure in January seems likely.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Inter and Juventus are both keen on picking up Grimaldo in January, with both teams looking to add a new left back to their squad.  He currently earns around €1.2m net per season in Portugal, so he wouldn’t be too heavy on a wage bill in Italy.

The Nerazzurri are still hoping to sell Robin Gosens in the coming months, with Bayer Leverkusen still a possible destination for the German, and Grimaldo would be a fairly low-cost replacement. Initial contacts have started but the 26-year-old is in no hurry to pick his next club just yet.
