There were concerns when the Chile national team doctors confirmed they were checking Alexis Sanchez for a medical condition, but it is now reported Inter knew their striker had a form of anaemia.

The veteran signed for the Nerazzurri in the final days of the transfer window as a free agent after his experience at Olympique Marseille.

Coach Mauricio Pinilla said in a press conference yesterday that Sanchez was having tests for a ‘medical issue’ and there were reports he was diagnosed with anaemia.

Now La Gazzetta dello Sport insist the Inter staff had already spotted the situation in his medical ahead of the transfer, which includes blood tests.

There is believed to be a low red blood cell count, but it is not considered to be a serious condition and he is already undergoing treatment, including a specific diet.

This is the Chile international’s second stint at Inter after a previous spell from 2019 to 2022.
