Lorenzo Insigne’s agent Vincenzo Pisacane says January will be a decisive month for the striker’s future, adding that a move abroad would be easier for him.

Insigne’s contract with the Partenopei expires at the end of the campaign.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Napoli have offered their captain a new €3.5m-a-year deal, less than his current €5m-a-year contract.

Insigne would be happy to get the same money without a signing bonus which, his agent insists, Insigne never asked.

“I’ve read that we want €7m-a-year plus a signing bonus, it’s all bul…..,” the agent told Il Corriere dello Sport.

“These figures are not real, it’s not fair to make Lorenzo look like a mercenary, but according to [Napoli President Aurelio] De Laurentiis, bonuses should be the biggest part of his contract.”

Insigne has rejected Napoli’s opening contract extension offer.

“I prefer to avoid numbers and details, we believe that the offer is not adequate,” Pisacane confirmed.

He also added that the problem between Insigne and Napoli is not just about the money.

Conte wants Napoli captain Insigne at Tottenham

“It’s a problem of education, timing and actions. We are in peace with De Laurentiis, we don’t want more controversy, but one day it would be fair to explain all that happened.

“A big champion like Insigne would have deserved more time, but De Laurentiis didn’t want to talk to me and sent me to [Napoli director Cristiano] Giuntoli. Somebody within the club once even told me: ‘Where is Insigne supposed to go?’ as he didn’t have any other offer.

“However, Lorenzo will be a great professional until June 30, even if we will take different paths.”

The 31-year-old has been linked with Tottenham, Lazio, Inter, Milan and Juventus and received an offer from Toronto FC.

“I won’t talk to any other club until January, but from January 2, things will change,” Pisacane said.

“I’ve never been to Toronto, but I think that after many years with the same club, it’s difficult to play for another one in the same country. Perhaps, an experience abroad wouldn’t be as painful, something like Del Piero did, but it’s just my idea…

“Right now, Napoli and Insigne are a bit far away, especially for the timing, but everything can change in ten minutes. It all depends on the president now. It’s never been up to us.”
