Lorenzo Insigne has commented on Italy’s woeful World Cup campaign, but believes he will be better as a result.

The Azzurri crashed out of the tournament in the group stages after losing to Costa Rica and Uruguay in their final two matches.

The Napoli striker though, is confident that the squad are on an upward curve.

“I was happy to be a part of the group, because I’m only 23,” he told a Press conference.

“I was happy to be a part of the group, because I’m only 23,” he told a Press conference.

“It was an important experience for me, even if it could have gone a bit better.

“I don’t read the newspapers. I don’t really know what they said about the tournament.

“But people have told me that the Press want more youth in the team.

“I think Prandelli probably expected a bit more from me. But we won together and lost together.

“I don’t think it’s anyone’s fault – whether they are young or more experienced.”
