The 28-year-old became a Raiola client over the summer, fuelling speculation that he could leave the San Paolo.

“What matters is that I’m calm. I’ve always wanted to stay and I’ve never thought about leaving Naples.

“I didn’t choose Raiola for a move away. I’ll always give my best for this shirt.

“The right signings have been made, we’re a great bunch and we deserve to win something.

“We have to go as far as possible in the Champions League. I hope to reach the Final and win it.”

Finally, the Italy international was asked about his best Champions League goal.

“My first in the Champions League – a free kick against Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund at the San Paolo.”
