Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne reportedly wants to avoid entering 2021-22 on an expiring contract.

Il Mattino reports the Italy international, who has continued to impress with the Azzurri at Euro 2020 this summer, wants to fix his situation ahead of the new season.

Insigne has been linked with a move away from Napoli in recent weeks, as his contract with the Partenopei expires one year from now in June 2022.

The newspaper reveals patron Aurelio De Laurentiis has not formally opened negotiations to renew the captain’s deal and thus the speculation regarding the 30-year-old’s future continues.

Insigne has spent his 12 years in football with the Azzurri, but was loaned out early in his career to gain experience at Cavese, Foggia and Pescara.

But Insigne’s professional career has always been linked with Napoli and the captain doesn’t seem to be pushing for a move himself.

Il Mattino claims the influential attacker has no intentions of starting next season on an expiring contract.
