It is reported that Lorenzo Insigne wants to extend his Napoli contract, but the Partenopei do not consider it a priority.

The forward was the club’s second top scorer in Serie A last season, finding the net on 12 occasions to finish in second place behind Gonzalo Higuain.

With Higuain since departing for Juventus, the 25-year-old’s entourage were hoping his added importance to his boyhood club would culminate in a new deal.

With Higuain since departing for Juventus, the 25-year-old’s entourage were hoping his added importance to his boyhood club would culminate in a new deal.

However, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Insigne has been left disappointed after talks between his agent and Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis failed to produce the outcome he was hoping for.

The Italian daily states that an agreement over an extended contract is still some way off being agreed, with the Azzurri not viewing it as a priority anyway.

Insigne’s current deal at San Paolo runs until 2019.
