Lorenzo Insigne will ask Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis for guarantees on investment and ambition rather than just a higher salary if he is to sign a new contract.

The captain and hometown hero will be a free agent in June 2022, as his current contract only runs to the end of the season.

Negotiations over a new deal have repeatedly hit problems and were also postponed by the club.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Insigne is preparing his list of demands after an initial proposal was made.

The issue is not just about his salary, but Insigne wants guarantees that Napoli will be ambitious and competitive going forward.

He is said to be reflecting on the offer and getting ready to request reinforcements to the squad, with further pledges going forward.

Insigne wants to commit his future to Napoli only if he can guarantee the club will aim higher than in recent seasons.

  1. Sounds fair – he is Napoli born hero, he should be using his influence to elevate the club. Make or break, loving it!

  2. They’re an individually Italian owned club which we have few of, the only southern club in serie a, not really sure what Insigne expects but I think they compete pretty well for all that. Maybe he should score some more goals and shut up.

  3. I am from holland and been watching Napoli for years the play the best football in serie A it would be fantastic to bring a scudetto as i feel they deserve it also for the way the run the club and keep books in check they are an example…but also they cannot put in as many money as the northern foreign owned clubs…
