Lorenzo Insigne did not take part in training with the Italy squad today due to a knee injury.

The Napoli starlet spoke at a Press conference earlier, but was spotted sitting on a bench during the training session wearing trainers rather than football boots.

It’s reported he is being rested after suffering a knock to the right knee during Sunday’s 4-0 win against Milan.

"It's nothing dramatic. The lad got a few knocks in recent games and his knee was still swollen," explained chief medic Franco Castellacci.

"So today, in agreement with Napoli doctors, we removed some of the liquid."

It remains to be seen whether Insigne will be deemed fit to start this Saturday’s Euro 2016 qualifier in Azerbaijan.

Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi has already pulled out of international duty with injury, but Inter’s Matteo Darmian was able to stay after a scare.
