Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne admits he enjoys watching Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and adds that somebody doesn’t understand him in Naples.

The 31-year-old sees his contract expire at the end of the season.

His agent Vincenzo Pisacane has confirmed that the Italy striker has rejected the club’s contract extension offer.

Inter, Juventus and Tottenham have been linked with securing his services, but the player’s agent will only talk to interested clubs starting from January 2.

Meantime, Insigne has released an interview with Rivista Undici where he spoke about his career.

“People always expect a lot from me and I’ve tried to be up to the task, sometimes I had disagreements with fans and I am sorry about it,” he said, as quoted by Calciomercato.com.

“I have always given my best for Napoli. I have a particular personality. I like jokes, but at the beginning, I keep a distance. It’s something I do to defend myself. Somebody has never understood me. They don’t know the way I am really done.

“Zeman was the first coach to believe in me,” he continued. “But Benitez completed me. Before he arrived, I thought football was just about attacking.

Insigne’s agent warns Napoli amid Tottenham interest

“Football with Sarri was joy, I had fun, but I was disappointed because we didn’t win the title. Ancelotti and I had different ideas about football. I owe a lot to Gattuso, while Spalletti has a great personality.

“I respect England and Spain, but tactic dominates Italian football. That’s why foreign players struggle at the beginning.

“I never miss a football game on TV. If I had to spend money on a ticket, it would be for a Champions League Final. I enjoy watching Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, the perfect Final would be against Liverpool.”

Insigne spent almost his entire career at Napoli and in Naples.

A product of the club’s academy, he played 415 games at a senior level, scoring 114 goals.

He only left the club for three years when he played on loan at Cavese, Foggia and Pescara.

Insigne has won three trophies at Napoli, one SuperCup and two Coppa Italia.
