The playmaker pulled up with a knee injury just before half-time in the Partenopei’s 2-1 win, but his representative has calmed fears.

“Insigne is fine,” Fabio Andreotti assured Radio Crc.

“During Napoli-Juventus he had swelling in his knee which caused him discomfort, and as a preventative measure he and the doctor decided he should stop.

“Today he was with the rest of the squad, and we await the verdict of the doctor. [Club doctor Alfonso] De Nicola has ruled out further tests, because he’s sure he’s alright.

“Insigne would have played on, he wants to express himself in every game and help the team, but his knee was showing signs of fatigue.

“Insigne’s ligaments are solid, the knee is unharmed, the problem was only down to fatigue. There was concern, because he’s been operated on [last season, for a cruciate ligament injury], but thankfully it’s nothing serious.”

Andreotti then spoke about the weekend’s match, and his client’s future with Antonio Conte’s Italy.

“Insigne is Napoli’s biggest fan, and it’s obvious that the biggest match for a Napoli fan is Napoli-Juventus, so to score against the Old Lady is a source of great satisfaction.

“In addition, Juventus are still seen as the most important team in our League.

“The national team? Conte has always made it clear that Insigne is in serious consideration for him. The man in question is a great Coach and human being, and it’s clear that [Insigne has] certain qualities which could be useful to the Coach.”
