Lorenzo Insigne warns the Europa League trophy ‘is an objective’ for Napoli and they want to follow in Diego Maradona’s footsteps.
The trip to AZ Alkmaar is on Thursday evening after a 1-0 home defeat to the Dutch side.
“It’s going to be a difficult match, but we will try to get a result at all costs,” said Insigne in his press conference.
“We had played fairly well last time, but didn’t finish off our chances. Napoli are a great team, we must work to continue improving. The Europa League games are never easy and we’ve got to give our all.”
They are currently top of their group, one point clear of AZ Alkmaar and Real Sociedad, but Insigne is looking long-term.
“I can say yes, the Europa League is an objective for us.”
It is today a week since Napoli icon Maradona died, at the age of 60.
“Maradona did incredible things, he took Napoli to the top of European football and we will never forget him.”
