Lorenzo Insigne and Federico Bernardeschi kicked off life in the MLS in grand fashion following Toronto FC’s 4-0 win over Charlotte.

The pair both joined the Canadian outfit on free transfers after their contracts expired with their respective Serie A clubs, deciding to try a new adventure abroad instead of remaining at home. With Domenico Criscito already in the squad, Toronto have now taken on a distinctly Italian flavour.

At BMO Field in Ontario, Insigne and Bernardeschi both started for Toronto alongside Criscito, ready for a taste of the MLS. After only 10 minutes, Bernardeschi contributed to his first goal after his accurate corner was met by Michael Bradley, who headed it home to make things 2-0.

The former Juventus man continued to fly high, scoring his first goal for Toronto after 31 minutes, netting a long shot to immediately introduce himself to the Canadian fans.

Insigne also had reason to smile, providing a classy back heel assist for Bradley just before half time. He was taken off during the half time break.

  1. Bernadeschi did more in this match than the yrs at juve, – his goal was poor, goalie should have saved that.

Great team link up play for the 4th goal

  2. Juve derailed bern career S juve does with most talented players. He should have stayed with Fiorentina. Juve is a black hole that swallows talented players. The proof is in the trail of destroyed careers.

  3. like …del piero, baggio, nedved, pogba [and now his return], inzaghi, zidane, buffon, chiellini, ferrara, davids, platini, zoff, trez, rossi, pirlo, marchisio, zambrotta, tardelli, ravanelli, deschamp, camoranesi to name only a few?
    derailed and ‘bern’ [sic]
    well argued italian
