Lorenzo Insigne’s agent insists it will be ‘very difficult’ to see him playing for Zenit St Petersburg, as Inter and Everton remain options for the Napoli captain.

His contract will expire at the end of the current campaign and negotiations for an extension never really got off the ground.

Sky Sport Italia report Napoli are prepared to release the Italy international for just €25-30m.

Zenit were mentioned as one of the clubs interested, but his agent Vincenzo Pisacane assured this was not going to be a likely destination for Insigne.

“Zenit contacted the agency, but not me,” he told Metaratings.eu.

“It will be very difficult for Lorenzo to move to Zenit.”

Insigne would prefer to remain in Italy, so Inter are therefore the favourites, although at Everton he’d be reunited with his old Napoli coach Rafa Benitez.

The most likely scenario put forward by Sky Sport Italia is for Insigne to remain at Napoli and wait for the contract to run down, hoping that something changes in his rapport with President Aurelio De Laurentiis, enabling him to continue his career at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
