Lorenzo Insigne believes Napoli Coach Carlo Ancelotti and Italy CT Roberto Mancini are similar – “they manage the same way, they think in the same way”.

Both men were in the running for the Azzurri job, but Carletto opted to replace Maurizio Sarri in Naples while Mancio took over the national team.

“Every Coach has his own ideas,” Insigne explained in today’s Press conference at Coverciano.

“The boss has changed some little things, asking us to make different movements in the attacking phase.

“Every Coach has his own ideas,” Insigne explained in today’s Press conference at Coverciano.

“The boss has changed some little things, asking us to make different movements in the attacking phase.

“He’s been a great Coach for some time, coaching great champions, so we can only learn from him. It’s not easy to put your ideas into action in just three days, but against Poland we saw something more compared to recent years.

“We need the same mentality Ancelotti has, but I think it’s the same with Mancini. They manage things the same way, and they think in the same way, so I feel good with Mancini.

“I hope I can give the national team what I’m giving to Napoli.”

That has often proved to be an issue with Insigne, with many saying he plays far better for club than country…

“We always try to do our best, we know that when we arrive here – once a month – it’s difficult to express everything on the pitch after three days of training. We don’t know each other that well.

“I can assure you that all of us give our hearts and souls for this shirt. It’s not just me, but at our clubs Coaches have changed but we know each other by heart.

“Seeing each other once a month is difficult…”

Others would say that the Partenopei talisman hasn’t been given a proper chance, notably being left on the bench by Giampiero Ventura in the play-off defeat to Sweden.

“I’ve always accepted the choices of every Coach, as I’ve always said about Ventura,” Insigne responded.

“I had confidence in those who played. Unfortunately it went badly and we need to look forward.

“Although [he] Ventura didn’t do well with the national team, he always did well in previous years. He showed his value.”
