Strikers Cavani and Lavezzi proved the difference in the midweek Champions League Last 16 first leg clash with Chelsea, scoring the goals between them in a 3-1 win.
“Cavani and Lavezzi are two madmen, which I mean in a good way. Both are very strong – they are attackers that can change the game at any moment,” reflected the Swiss midfielder on Radio Marte, before turning attention on to his own return to prominence.
The midfielder, a summer signing from Udinese, had struggled in recent weeks and lost his starting berth in the side.
“I always give my best for the good of the team and in the last three games I have played from the start we have won – against Chievo, Fiorentina and Chelsea.
“There were too many draws and then the ugly Coppa Italia defeat. Napoli had lost some rhythm.
“Why was I dropped before? I was just a little tired from the many games played. I have now returned, thanks to the faith of [Walter] Mazzarri, our Coach who has always believed in me and encouraged me to carry on. The rest I have achieved myself, through working hard during each week.”
