Argentina and Juventus star Angel Di Maria was subbed off during Wednesday’s match against Poland, but exams undergone in the morning did not highlight a muscle lesion.

El Fideo was forced off the pitch in the second half of Argentina’s 2-0 win over Poland last night and replaced by his Juventus teammate Leandro Paredes.

Coach Lionel Scaloni said that Di Maria had left discomfort in his thigh, so he decided to replace him to avoid any risk.

Tyc Sports in Argentina reports that Di Maria underwent a medical examination in the morning which did not highlight a muscle lesion.

According to the report, the ex-PSG star has been diagnosed with a contracture in his left thigh.

The 34-year-old remains in doubt for Saturday’s Round of 16 clash with Australia.

Di Maria has been struggling with injuries this season making just 10 appearances with the Old Lady and missing 12 games.
