Wojciech Szczesny will miss Juventus‘ Serie A opener against Sassuolo next week after suffering a low-grade lesion of the adductor longus muscle of the left thigh.

The Poland international played in the first half of the Old Lady’s 4-0 loss against Atletico Madrid on Sunday and was replaced by Mattia Perin during the break.

Juventus have now confirmed that the former Arsenal man had suffered an injury while on the pitch, so he underwent medical examinations in the morning.

“Due to a discomfort felt at the end of the first half of the match against Atletico Madrid, Wojciech Szczesny underwent radiological exams this morning at J|Medical which revealed a low-grade lesion of the adductor longus muscle of the left thigh. The player is expected to be out for around 20 days,” Juventus said in a statement.

The Bianconeri will host Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium in the first Serie A match of the season on Monday, August 15.
