Pippo Inzaghi insists his Milan career is not over following knee surgery. "I hope to be back by the end of the season," he noted.

The 37-year-old is expected to be out for the rest of the campaign after suffering knee ligament damage earlier this month.

However, Inzaghi is remaining optimistic just a matter of days after going under the knife.

"I'm hopeful and I've taken the first step towards recovery," the striker noted. "I hope to play for this team again by the end of the season, if not then next season.

"Milan have been exceptional as always," he added. "[Vice-President Adriano] Galliani is extraordinary, as are my teammates and the fans.

"I also have to thank Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho who sent me a wonderful fax," Super Pippo continued.

"I thank Roma too and the other clubs and players who have been in touch. All of football have shown me great affection."
