Inter defender Milan Skriniar, who missed out on the Derby d’Italia defeat to Juventus, will join the Slovakia national team for this international break.

The 28-year-old centre back has missed the Nerazzurri’s last four league outings with lower back pain, forcing Simone Inzaghi to tinker with his defence a little.

Skriniar has been a central figure at Inter for years but is now set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, having announced his decision at the end of January.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Skriniar has decided to accept Slovakia coach Marcello Calzona’s call-up and he’ll now join the squad for their training camp ahead of the Euro 2024 qualifiers.

The Inter defender will be closely examined by the national team’s medical staff to see if he’d be able to take part in their games against Luxembourg and Bosnia.

Skriniar has made 58 caps for the Slovakia national team since making his debut in May 2016.
