Roma star Paulo Dybala underwent some medial tests in Trigoria this afternoon which confirmed a left quadricep injury, reports detail.

The 28-year-old Argentinian forward was left clutching his leg after netting a penalty in the Giallorossi’s 2-1 win over Lecce yesterday. The club was instantly concerned and fears began emerging that Dybala could miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, a devastating blow for the former Juventus man.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Dybala underwent some ultrasounds today which confirmed the presence of an injury to his left quadriceps, caused by the strange movement of his leg during the penalty kick. The size and extent of the injury will be determined tomorrow with an MRI.

Roma are hoping to recover the 28-year-old within 25-30 days, but injuries of this type can vary from anywhere between four to eight weeks. It’s therefore likely that Dybala will miss every game in the run up to the World Cup break next month – nine matches across all competitions – and his World Cup is still in doubt.
