According to Il Mattino newspaper, Gianni Infantino’s video congratulating Juventus for qualifying for the Club World Cup infuriated Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who contacted his international lawyers in an attempt to ban the Bianconeri.
Napoli were eliminated from the Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday by Barcelona, meaning the Partenopei also failed to earn enough points to qualify for the 2025 Club World Cup.
Consequently, Juventus gained access to the competition that will be played next year, joining Inter.

FIFA quickly announced Juventus’ qualification on Tuesday night with a post on X and a video shared by President Infantino, only minutes after Barcelona’s win over Napoli.
According to Il Mattino, Infantino’s video infuriated De Laurentiis who contacted his pool of international lawyers hoping to find a way to ban Juventus and allow Napoli to play in the Club World Cup next year.
According to the report, ADL’s dilemma is whether to appeal directly to FIFA or to an ‘external’ court.
De Laurentiis feels that Juventus should not be involved in the Club World Cup following this season’s European ban due to financial irregularities.
However, previous Champions League campaigns provided Juventus the points to qualify, so it remains to be seen whether ADL’s potential appeal will be successful.
