Roma prepare for the match against Ajax on Thursday, but Chris Smalling and Leonardo Spinazzola worked individually.

The English defender has only played 14 games in Serie A since signing a permanent deal until June 2023, completing his move from Manchester United last summer.

He returned from a muscle injury to play in the 2-1 win over Fiorentina and a 1-0 win over Genoa in March, but has been out since with a knee injury.

PagineRomaniste reports that Smalling continued to train individually, and he’s thus uncertain for the return leg against the Dutch giants.

Spinazzola, Nicolò Zaniolo, Marash Kumbulla and Stephan El Shaarawy still trained separately too.

The Giallorossi are 2-1 up from the first leg in Amsterdam and are unbeaten in three games ahead of Ajax’s visit to the Olimpico this week.
