Speculation of late was that the Under-21 England international Tom would perhaps move to the Nerazzurri this summer, to follow in the footsteps of his father Paul, who played for the club between 1995 and 1997.
On from increasing reports that the player and his father had flown out discuss details of a contract, the pair were caught by Sky Sport Italia at Linate Airport in Milan.
“I’m not yet an Inter player, I am very happy in the meantime to stay here for two or three days,” Tom Ince responded on Sunday evening when asked of the increasingly expected move.
“Inter are a great team, Italy is a fantastic country, of which I have great memories.
“When Paul was playing for Inter? I remember San Siro fondly, as I do Zanetti, Paganin, Winter. We lived in Como, it was fantastic.
“It is wonderful to be here aged 22. I’m young, English, I am a winger, a fun player to watch. Inter is changing, there are new young players and new leadership. And they are one of the most important clubs in the world.
“Have I spoken with Thohir? He has told me that there are some changes, he wants to return Inter to greatness, to winning in Italy and in the Champions League, back to the level of this club. It’s great for me.”
Ince is available for a nominal fee, having run to the end of his Blackpool contract.
His father Paul also spoke to reporters on being back in the peninsula.
“It’s an amazing story, I had a delightful time here. It is important for Tom to be here today, to see the training ground and get to know the country, the stadium.
“Then we will go home and make a decision. For me, Inter is love, the fans transmit a passion. Moratti was a great President, like a father to me.
“It’s amazing that Tom is here now aged 22, he was five then. Now I am here for my son, I think you will know everything in a couple of weeks.”
