Another Serie A star, Lazio forward Correa, replaced Lucas Ocampos after 59 minutes and scored the winner that helped Argentina keep up with Brazil at the top in the South American table.
“It’s clearly possible [to win at high altitude]. We thought about what this match meant for us, judging by everything that has happened in recent years,” Lautaro told Argentina’s official website.
“Playing here is difficult, it changes a lot, but we have a young team with some experienced players like [Lionel] Messi and [Nicolas] Otamendi.
“They all gave their best, you could see from how the opponents jumped, ran and pressed. We walked about many things, but we were focused on what we had to do: win and take home the three points.
“This team showed a lot of strength and desire, we made life hard for our opponents who play very well at home. We are very happy.”
Lautaro has impressed in the first Serie A games too, with three goals from three games in the new season.
Now, the Beneamata prepare to face Milan in the first Derby della Madonnina on Saturday.
