Immobile suffers from Azzurri blues but Milinkovic-Savic flies high

Ciro Immobile

Ciro Immobile failed to impress in the win over Sassuolo, allowing Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to hog the spotlight.

Lazio picked up a key 2-1 win over the Neroverdi at the Stadio Olimpico yesterday evening, with goals from Manuel Lazzari and Milinkovic-Savic finding the back of the net to secure the three points. It was important for Maurizio Sarri’s side to find a victory following their painful derby defeat ahead of the recent international break.

Immobile was the most disappointing player on the Lazio squad, with Corriere della Sera nothing “he missed easy chances.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport agreed, feeling that “he wasted three goals”, something Tuttosport backed up when they highlighted that “he wasted three shots that he usually scores with his eyes closed.” All agree that his failure with the Azzurri last week have had some impact on his performance.

On the other side of the coin, Milinkovic-Savic was the best player on the pitch, with his goal being the icing on the cake. Corriere dello Sport praised him highly, calling him “concrete and beautiful to watch. A monster.” Corriere della Sera agreed, suggesting that “if he finds consistency, he’ll be one of the best midfielders in the world.”
